Our venue for this wedding styled shoot, Lanwades Hall is hidden in the Suffolk countryside. It has the most stunning rooms filled with beautiful light and large gardens.
For this shoot the main inspiration was a 110 years old dress from Cambridge Vintage Bridal. It is a very rare find and we used it in 2 ways. Firstly to match the style of the venue then to contrast the brand new, handmade table and ceremony arch. We also used a 90 years old cutlery set against minimalist, modern plates.
We all need to dare to mix up our heritage and all things old with new. Because sleek, modern items work so well even in a very old venue! Similarly, there is no need to go overboard with styling, colours and lots and lots of decoration because just the elegant feel of a simple styling and interesting lighting gives enough… an almost completely monochrome, minimal scheme can work in a venue like ours. It is so easy to create a lot of interest by giving contrast to the rich colours of the great variety of backdrops. Even our cake and flowers and stationery were purely about texture and not much colour at all.
As usual for all the inspirational wedding shoots I organise, we paid very careful attention so we stay sustainable and minimise carbon footprint. All our items are real vintage, handmade or recycled.
